Montenegrin girl

I have already wrote about my friends preferences when he was visiting Montenegro, last year, in my blog  Location perfect for exploring Montenegro . He focused on the costal part and desided to stay in Budva. You might think: why not staying in the central part, there is a capital, Podgorica? But, you should know that people mostly stay in eather north or south. On the south, if you are mostly interested in sea and costal towns. North is mostly for people who are interested in hiking, walking, rafting, skiing... Or simply, enjoying the nature. Sometimes people combine staying several days on the coast and then 2 or 3 days on the north. Anyway, if north is what you chosed, you should decide for Kolasin or Zabljak. Zabljak , if you ask me. Central part of Montenegro is not so interesting for tourists, but there are some really nice hidden gems to see arround Podgorica, too. It's good to know in the case you are stuck for a day waiting for a flight or so. I recommend visit ...

When my friend was visiting me last summer I was thinking: where on Earth should I tell him to stay? He wanted to visit many beaches, Boka Bay, but also several rivers and lakes on the north, as well as the Old Capital of Cetinje and Ostrog Monastery. Ok, it's a great plan! - I had to admit. But, he wanted to know where to stay... Where to look for...? We both agreed that it has to be on the coast, since he was mostly interested in what I call 'sun&sea'. He also planned to rent a car, so that he could visit all the places he wanted. I was a bit worried, because roads in Montenegro are (being a hilly mountain country) curvy, drivers are nervous when the temperature rises and so on... parking spaces lacking, traffic jams when everybody comes back from the beach, I mentioned, but he didn't listen. In a small country like Montenegro places are already well known and mass-visited. So, I'm always trying to find a gem, a part that a mass missed and I often manage. It's August and Milocer beaches are full of tourists. However I wanted something really special for this morning. So, I decided to walk and old path that not so many people, especially tourists knaw about... The path goes from Przno all around Milocer park heading to old Monastery from 14c.AC. Terrain is steep and the path is streight, so I have difficulties to climb in the middle of the day when the temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius. I feel like I suddenly got in a fairy tail following the grey-stone road. I feel so special walking this centuries old path... Lukavica mountain was in the past the place farmers use to visit in the summer with their cattle. They built small stone houses where they stayed for a couple of hot months. Those places were called Katuns. Many tribes in ancient Montenegro had katuns on certain mountains. Which mountain was going to be a Katun of certain tribe was decided by the King. In katuns, the mountain offered green grass for cows and sheep all over the hot summer season. Nowadays, Lukavica mountain is a very well known tourist site. Big and Small Zurim are well known Montenegrin sites visited by hundreds of tourists every year. It is a very popular hiking destination. There are still few families that stay in the mountain with the cattle for the summer, but they are rare. People moved searching for a better and easier life, life in towns... Lukavica Mountain, almost 2000 meters high, is a haven for different sorts of herbs that grow in this area and can stand  high and low temperatures,...

Here I am, spending my summer holiday on Montenegrin coast. I made some really great photos and I can't wait to share them. We were lucky this summer, we didn't have rainy days or wildfires like the previous one which was really crazy... Anyway, here's my summer story... Sun goes down behind Budva old town.. This photo was taken from Kings beach in Milocer, the most prestigious beach and resort in Montenegro, which also connect with St. Stefan hotel. And can you believe - pink sand beach... It's not only about clear water and great weather... What comes to my senses is that Mediterranean plants and pines create this unic connection of sea, land, air and sun. Cijevna canyon is one of the most fascinating in Montenegro.  It is very narrow and deep at the same time and color of the water is absolutely amazing.  Just outside of Podgorica (the capital of Montenegro) heading to Albania border, in a place called Kuće Rakića, you can find stunning waterfalls on river Cijevna.  The waterfalls are also known as local "Niagara Falls" and every year more and more tourists come to visit. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach them driving from the center of Podgorica in Tuzi direction (heading to Albanian border).  In total, the Canjon is 56 km long, running trough two countries, Albania and Montenegro. In some parts, canjon is around 1.000 meters deep, especially at the border area.  Cijevna Canjon is very famous in Europe for diversity of plant species.
