Where to stay when visiting Montenegro?

I have already wrote about my friends preferences when he was visiting Montenegro, last year, in my blog Location perfect for exploring Montenegro. He focused on the costal part and desided to stay in Budva.
You might think: why not staying in the central part, there is a capital, Podgorica? But, you should know that people mostly stay in eather north or south. On the south, if you are mostly interested in sea and costal towns. North is mostly for people who are interested in hiking, walking, rafting, skiing... Or simply, enjoying the nature.
Sometimes people combine staying several days on the coast and then 2 or 3 days on the north. Anyway, if north is what you chosed, you should decide for Kolasin or Zabljak. Zabljak , if you ask me.
Central part of Montenegro is not so interesting for tourists, but there are
some really nice hidden gems to see arround Podgorica, too. It's good to know in the case you are stuck for a day waiting for a flight or so. I recommend visit to Cijevna canjon, just outside of Podgorica. More on Cijevna here.
Otherwise, there are perfect places to visit on the Skadar Lake, like Virpazar or Plavnica, or Rijeka Crnojevica. In the region, one should try local specialties, red vine Vranac from Crmnica and smoked fish from the lake, available in local restaurants.
Let's not forget Cetinje visit, my place of birth, which is a MUST. Cetinje is close to Budva (30 min ride) so it's easy to reach when staying on the coast.

In general, all towns are easily reachable by bus lines heading to all towns. Traveling between towns is inexpensive. Train connects north and the south, going from Bijelo Polje and Kolasin to Podgorica and then to Bar, on the coast. Another train track connects Podgorica to Niksic. Trains are slow and sometimes they are late, but you can enjoy in amazing nature while traveling in both directions - north or south- it's yours to decide!
