Local "Niagara Falls" experience and Podgorica siteseeing

Cijevna canyon is one of the most fascinating in Montenegro. 

It is very narrow and deep at the same time and color of the water is absolutely amazing. 

Just outside of Podgorica (the capital of Montenegro) heading to Albania border, in a place called Kuće Rakića, you can find stunning waterfalls on river Cijevna. 

 The waterfalls are also known as local "Niagara Falls" and every year more and more tourists come to visit. It takes approximately 20 minutes to reach them driving from the center of Podgorica in Tuzi direction (heading to Albanian border). 

In total, the Canjon is 56 km long, running trough two countries, Albania and Montenegro. In some parts, canjon is around 1.000 meters deep, especially at the border area. 

Cijevna Canjon is very famous in Europe for diversity of plant species.

On the way to Kuće Rakića you will have chance to pass by the biggest vineyards in Europe as a single complex Plantaže plaćed in Ćemovsko Valley. The company owns a very known wine cellar "Šipčanik" and offers fantastic wine tourism events. If you are interested in having a lunch in the wine cellar setting or tasting food with wine, there is fantastic offer with a 2 hour duration of the cellar visit, individual or in a group.

Location perfect for exploring Montenegro?

When my friend was visiting me last summer I was thinking: where on Earth should I tell him to stay? He wanted to visit many beaches, Boka Bay, but also several rivers and lakes on the north, as well as the Old Capital of Cetinje and Ostrog Monastery. Ok, it's a great plan! - I had to admit. Lukavica Mountain, Montenegro

Lukavica mountain was in the past the place farmers use to visit in the summer with their cattle. They built small stone houses where they stayed for a couple of hot months. Those places were called Katuns. Many tribes in ancient Montenegro had katuns on certain mountains. Which mountain was going to be a Katun of certain tribe was decided by the King.
